2017 Convention Update

Nebraska Association of Fair Managers
Renewing old friendships and making new friends, made for a great weekend of fun when 1,026 people gathered for the Nebraska Association of Fair Managers Convention in Kearney, Nebraska.
Key Note speakers were Ron Diamond with the IAFE Speakers Bureau, and Mark Poeschl Chief Executive Officer National FFA
Breakout discussion included "State Audits", “Understanding Generational Differences" and "Sales Tax for County Fairs".
Proceeds from the live auction, as well as the silent auction totaled $4342.00 which will go to offset expenses.
The Nebraska State Fair Board met and one new member was elected: Stan Brodine - Buffalo County
New this year were two "Showcases of Talent" with 4 Acts on Friday Night and 8 Acts on Saturday Afternoon
Evening entertainment following dinner was “Farm Boy Music” by Clyde Bauman.
Special guests were IAFE President Marla Calico and intern Brittney McBride.
Officers elected-Maxine Schatz- President, Tom Schellpeper- Vice President, Steven Kruger- Executive Secretary
Directors Elected- Lisa Eggerling -District 1, Greg Heine-District 3, Wayne Thunker-District 5, Junior Young-District 7
The Sunday banquet honored years of service to County Fair Board members.
The Romeo Scholarships were won by McGuire MacKeprang- Knox County and Vanessa Taylor- Brown County
The Past President's Scholarship was won by Kaittlin Danielle Taylor - Phelps County.
Fair Person of the Year was Jim Specht of Cedar County Fair.
The 2018 Convention will be held January 19-21 at the Ramada Inn in Kearney
